Our skulls are made up of cranial plates that shift and move in what is called a cranial rhythm. Accidents, head trauma and structural (skeletal) misalignments can shift these plates out of position causing the tissue inside the cranium to shift as well. This can agitate the nervous system creating headache patterns including migraines, sleep disorders, tension throughout the body, an inability to focus and sinus congestion just to name a few.
Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle form of bodywork that focuses on the nervous system and the connective tissue (fascia) that surrounds the brain and spinal cord. A Craniosacral Therapy Practitioner can gently release these restrictions to the cranial fascial systems by mobilizing the cranial plates which can alleviate physical pain and discomfort and restore structural and energetic balance in the body.
